• Many smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors use a battery as either the primary power source or as a backup. Replace the battery in each detector every six months. Then, test each detector monthly to make sure it's working.
  • If you have forced-air heating, with or without central air conditioning, replace or clean your furnace filters monthly, or as needed. Doing this could improve your heating system's efficiency by as much as 10%.
  • Clean the clothes dryer vent every three months. This will reduce drying time and allow the dryer to operate more efficiently.

Service Area

We serve a large geographic area. We are currently performing inspections throughout Cook, DuPage, and Lake counties.

Reporting System
BIS uses HomeGauge, one of the latest software programs designed specifically for home inspectors. This program allows the inspector to gather all of his findings and incorporate color photos of the problem areas into the report. The report consists of approximately 25-40 pages, and in most cases, it will be printed on-site. Clients, as well as their agent and attorney, can view and print the report directly from our website, simply by entering their user name and password. This feature can greatly speed up the home-buying process. Click here to view a sample report. Coming soon...
